‘Engineering is fun’ workshops for the sub urban and rural school children of aged between 13 and 15 years were conducted to two sub urban and two rural school children from May to November, 2014. The children first exposed to a concept or hands on training on certain tools. They were grouped into 3 or 4 per group to come up with simple ideas of using either the concept they have learnt or the tool they have learnt to use. For example, some of the activities involved wood working; electrical circuits for various purposes include games, pneumatics, etc. as per the proposal. This provided an opportunity to get hands on skill and a feel for the same among children and at the same time, it created interest on studying engineering education as their career.
